The Best Hotels in Bangkok, by Price Range (2026)
World-class luxury at a fraction of Western prices — riverside grandeur to city-centre design hotels, ranked honestly.
Bangkok is one of the most compelling cities in the world to spend money on a hotel. Not because you have to — you don't — but because the gap between what you pay and what you get is wider here than almost anywhere else. Properties that would cost US$800–1,200 a night in London or New York sit at US$400–600. The city's top riverside hotels are genuinely among the best in Asia, and the best in Asia is the best in the world.
A quick geography note before the picks: Bangkok's luxury landscape splits between riverside (Chao Phraya) and city-centre (mostly Sukhumvit, Sathorn and the Ratchaprasong/Lumphini corridor). Riverside delivers atmosphere, slower pace and iconic views of temple spires and long-tail boats. City-centre gives you BTS Skytrain access, walkable dining and rooftop bars. Neither is better — they suit different trips. All rates below are indicative cash rates for a lead room in shoulder season (April–June, September–October), shown in Thai baht with USD equivalents (ึ36 ≈ US$1); high season (November–February) runs 20–40% higher.
Insider verdicts throughout are our own — the praise and the caveats — so you get the honest picture, not the brochure.
Elevated Luxury
Capella Bangkok for the riverside all-suite experience — the most acclaimed hotel in Bangkok, and arguably in Asia. Aman Nai Lert if you want city luxury in a garden compound at the true Aman standard. The Siam for an intimate boutique estate on the river at a fraction of the other two's rates.
Aman Nai Lert Bangkok Virtuoso
Opened April 2025 within seven acres of Nai Lert Park in the heart of Pathumwan, Aman Nai Lert is currently the best hotel in Bangkok — and it isn't close. Jean-Michel Gathy designed the 52-suite tower with characteristic restraint, translating the site's century-old teak Heritage Home into stone parquetry floors, triple-tiered ceiling mouldings and layered rooflines. Service is Aman-standard: staffing ratios that make requests feel anticipated rather than handled, a 1,500-square-metre spa anchored by a Sompong tree that predates the hotel by generations. The F&B offering is stronger than at most city Amans — the Heritage Home is a genuine destination for non-guests too. City location, not riverside, but the garden compound feels entirely removed from urban Bangkok. From ~ึ40,000 (~US$1,100); suites higher.
Capella Bangkok Virtuoso
On a narrow bend of the Chao Phraya, Capella is all-suite, all-river and completely unhurried — every one of the 101 suites faces the water, and 17 have private Jacuzzi plunge pools. Côte by Mauro Colagreco holds a Michelin star; the Auriga Spa is among the finest in Southeast Asia. It ranked #1 on the World's 50 Best Hotels list in 2024 and #3 in 2025, and was just named Best Global Hotel for Food & Drink in Food & Wine's 2026 Global Tastemakers Awards — the hardware is real. BTS access requires a short transfer, but guests who book Capella are rarely in a rush. From ~ึ30,000 (~US$840); suites from ึ50,000+. Riverside.
The Siam Book with us
Thirty-nine suites and villas on the Chao Phraya in the Royal Dusit district, built around a private collection of Siamese antiques and artefacts assembled over decades. The Siam is genuinely unlike anything else in Bangkok — intimate and deeply personal, with a Muay Thai training ring, a 1930s-style speakeasy bar, a cinema, and the best boutique pool setup on the river. Owned and curated by the Halvorsen family, it feels less like a hotel and more like a very well-staffed private estate. From ~ึ15,000 (~US$427); villa categories significantly higher. Riverside.
Luxury
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok if you want the historic landmark — newly renovated to its best in a generation, with Anne-Sophie Pic now in the kitchen. The Peninsula for the river view and pool terrace at an honest rate below what its quality should command. Four Seasons Chao Phraya for full-facilities riverside if you need the hotel to do a lot.
Mandarin Oriental Bangkok Mandarin Oriental Fan Club
Opened in 1876 on the Chao Phraya, the Oriental is the hotel that put Bangkok on the map for international travellers. The Authors' Wing, the afternoon tea in the Authors' Lounge and the legendary Thai Cooking School are genuine icons — not marketing. A major ~US$100 million renovation is now complete, with designer Jeffrey Wilkes having transformed the Authors' and Garden Wings; Anne-Sophie Pic took over Le Normandie from late 2025; and the hotel is mid-way through 150th anniversary celebrations throughout 2026. This is the best version of the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok in a generation. Book the historic wings — the Tower Wing is a different, lesser product. From ~ึ18,000 (~US$494). Riverside.
Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River Four Seasons Preferred Partner
Opened in 2020, the Four Seasons sits on the same riverfront stretch as Capella and is larger, busier and more facilities-driven — two temperature-controlled infinity pools, a 35-metre lap pool, Michelin-recognised dining, and private pier shuttle service to ICONSIAM and BTS Saphan Taksin. It ranked #2 on the World's 50 Best Hotels in 2025. A handful of reviews mention room sound insulation as imperfect; otherwise condition reports are strong. The most accessible full-service luxury experience on the river. From ~ึ17,000 (~US$455). Riverside.
The Peninsula Bangkok Peninsula PenClub
The Peninsula sits on the Thonburi bank, its east-facing rooms looking across the Chao Phraya to the Bangkok skyline — one of the great hotel views in Asia, and at night, with the city lights reflected on the water, genuinely spectacular. The three-tier pool terrace cascading to the river is among the most beautiful pool setups in Southeast Asia. Rooms are among the largest of any luxury hotel in Bangkok. It is quietly, consistently excellent — slightly less talked-about than Capella or the Oriental, which makes it one of the better value plays at this tier. Complimentary shuttle boats connect to the BTS. From ~ึ13,000 (~US$350). Riverside.
Rosewood Bangkok Rosewood Elite
In the Ploenchit/Ratchaprasong corridor, the Rosewood delivers refined, design-led luxury without the riverside drama — floor-to-ceiling city views, a rooftop pool, strong F&B and the brand's characteristically warm, residential service. One Mile at a Time described it as a "solid, second-tier luxury city hotel" — fair characterisation, with the implication that rates price it well. The Asaya spa is excellent, and the location gives immediate BTS access for the whole city. From ~ึ12,000 (~US$320). City-centre.
Upper Premium
Park Hyatt Bangkok for Hyatt loyalists — consistently excellent and a strong World of Hyatt option in the city. Waldorf Astoria for design and value: rates have compressed to the point where this is genuinely one of Bangkok's better deals. Sindhorn Kempinski for longer stays and wellness-focused travellers who want calm over buzz.
Park Hyatt Bangkok Hyatt Privé
In the Central Embassy complex with direct mall access, the Park Hyatt is sleek, well-run and consistent — Michelin Two Keys for two consecutive years, a strong rooftop pool, and the brand's reliably polished service. Rates vary considerably: shoulder prices can dip below ึ10,000, making it a genuine luxury bargain; high season pushes it close to ึ18,000. The clear default for World of Hyatt members visiting Bangkok. From ~ึ10,000 (~US$280); high-season rates higher. City-centre.
Waldorf Astoria Bangkok Hilton for Luxury
A striking tower in Ratchaprasong with strong art-deco visual identity, good dining and one of the better Hilton executive programme setups in the city. Rates have compressed over the past two years, making it one of the most interesting value plays in the luxury corridor — typical rates of ึ19,000–11,000 for a product that feels like it should cost more. Some guests have flagged inconsistency in housekeeping; front-desk service is generally praised. From ~ึ19,000 (~US$250). City-centre.
Sindhorn Kempinski Bangkok Book with us
Set within the Sindhorn Village development near Lumphini Park, the Kempinski is quiet, well-designed and surrounded by good restaurants. Guests rate it 9.5/10 on Trip.com — unusually consistent. Less flashy than the Rosewood or Park Hyatt, but the wellness offering is strong, the rooms are well-maintained and the neighbourhood is calmer than Sukhumvit. Suits longer stays more than quick overnights. From ~ึ10,000 (~US$283). City-centre.
Premium
Kimpton Maa-Lai — the standout in this tier, and the best lifestyle hotel in Bangkok. The Sukhothai for the traveller who wants genuine Thai design and tranquillity without the riverside premium.
The Sukhothai Bangkok Book with us
A quiet, low-rise property in Sathorn built around lotus ponds, teak pavilions and Thai craftsmanship — a near-rural calm in the middle of a frenetic city. The Celadon restaurant is a serious Thai dining institution. Rooms are spacious and atmospheric, though some guests note that bathrooms and older room categories show their age. The Sukhothai holds two Michelin Keys and Small Luxury Hotels membership; it punches well above its price in terms of atmosphere and service. From ~ึ17,500 (~US$200). City-centre.
Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok IHG Luxury & Lifestyle
In Langsuan, steps from Lumphini Park and connected to the BTS, the Kimpton is the standout in this tier: genuine design quality, a beautiful pool, strong F&B across five restaurants, and Kimpton's characteristically warm and slightly irreverent service. Floor-to-ceiling windows, yoga mats in-room, pet-friendly — the boutique touches are real, not marketing. At its price point, it's a near-perfect Bangkok base for travellers who want personality without paying riverside premiums. From ~ึ16,500 (~US$179); typical rates ึ17,000–9,000. City-centre.
The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon Book with us
Occupying the top floors of the Mahanakhon tower — Bangkok's tallest building — The Standard delivers its signature irreverence at altitude. The views are extraordinary; the SkyWalk glass platform and rooftop bar are among the most talked-about experiences in the city. The product skews lifestyle over luxury, with 155 rooms ranging from 40 sqm to a 144 sqm penthouse, and a terrace pool that looks across the entire Bangkok skyline. More energy than polish, which is precisely what it's designed for. From ~ึ14,600 (~US$127); typical rates ึ15,500–7,500. City-centre.

How to choose
The single most useful question before booking Bangkok is: do you want the river or the city? If the Chao Phraya is part of the trip — sunset boat rides, temple views, that lingering sense of old Siam — you want Capella, the Mandarin Oriental, the Four Seasons or the Peninsula. If you're here for rooftop bars, street food by BTS and walkable neighbourhood exploring, city-centre properties give you more flexibility without the transfer overhead. The second question is how much of the experience you want to be the hotel itself. At the Elevated Luxury end, the hotel is a destination in its own right; at the Premium end, you want a great base that frees you to go out into one of Asia's most rewarding cities.
